The vine-growers' Association was born back in 1962: it had 16 partners; in 1971 the oil mill was acquired and the first milling took place.
We are 300 olive growers, cultivating some 70,000 olive trees.
The amount of olive oil we produce varies from year to year owing to the climate - sometimes favourable, sometimes a little harsh.
Annual olive oil output ranges from a minimum of just a few thousand kilos (in lean years) to a maximum of some 100,000 kilos (in bumper years: average yields stand at 20,000- 30,000 kilos).
We came together to form a Cooperative and in 1972 built an olive mill. We press only our own olives and the thus-obtained oil is packaged and sold by the Cooperative on behalf of all its members.
The Cooperativa Agricola Brisighellese was founded to give a boost to local olive production: the growing area is located in the Italian region of Emilia Romagna, in the Commune of Brisighella, part of the Province of Ravenna. Cultivation mostly takes place on the hillsides of the Tuscany-Romagna Apennines along the Lamone river valley.
This body brings together 90% of local producers and aims to ensure that the qualitative and organoleptic characteristics of the oil are always of the highest standards. Even as far back as 1975 it was engaged in promotion of initiatives designed to give olive oils precise identification by type and origin. It attributed a specific name to its products, numbering the bottles and analytically guaranteeing that special quality - a quality that stems from a unique wealth of aromas and fragrances provided by the special type of low-oil yield olive and knowledgeable processing, with cold-pressing of the olives taking place in the Cooperative's own mill.
